Contracts Manager


Commercially this role will include the financial management of projects, negotiating and agreeing contracts for everything connected with Quartzelec Swansea.

The responsibility of Contracts Manager includes working closely with the Sales Team to win new business, explore new avenues of activity and to seek out opportunities to help Quartzelec develop and grow.

Overall, the role means fully supporting the Business Manager to grow the business, drive high standards of work and continuous improvement in Safety, Quality, Cost control and Delivery.

 

Key Responsibilities & Accountability

Develop strategy (alongside sales team and Business Manager) to grow market share:

  • Front end costing and tendering
  • Management of the tendering process and reporting
  • Customer Liaison
  • Product & Market focus
  • Good knowledge of UK and Worldwide markets for potential customers for Quartzelec full product range
  • Good knowledge of Quartzelec products across its full range
  • Review current sales activity structure against objective
  • Full input into monthly sales meeting

Take commercial and financial control of contracts within the Quartzelec business:

  • Project start up, including T&Cs, order acknowledgement, design review and planning
  • Project progress monitoring and customer updates
  • Project cost control, monitoring and review
  • Change and variation control (including defects, concessions etc...)
  • Working with Quartzelec team to ensure effective delivery of projects
  • Invoicing and debt management
  • Project close out and lessons learnt
  • Document Control
  • Lead monthly contract reviews and weekly CTC

Qualifications, Experience & Personal Attributes

The successful applicant will possess:

  • Previous experience within a sales / contract management environment is essential
  • A mechanical qualification is desirable but not essential
  • Previous experience had within a similar industry ideally in rotating machinery
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft office suite, PowerPoint and Projects
  • Demonstrable experience in understanding profit and loss calculations and basic business finance, e.g., gross margin percentages and calculations
  • The ability to travel the UK & overseas as and when required
