We are now looking to appoint an experienced SHEQ Adviser to be based in Scotland, supporting the Aberdeen and Hamilton and Liverpool business units.
To provide expert advice and support to the businesses on all matters relating to health, safety, environmental and quality issues. Working within the electrical industry, you will be establishing rapport with employees and representing the company to our major clients on all Health, Safety, and environmental matters.
Key Responsibilities & Accountability
You will possess a passion for what you do, and be experienced in:-
- Controlling and maintaining all SHEQ processes, providing advice and support to employees to ensure legal compliance and minimise litigation
- Carry out SHEQ inspections at company premises and client sites as per audit plan
- Provide guidance to site teams encouraging safe working behaviours and working together with the team to identify and implement possible practical and proportional alternative solutions
- Provide suitable risk assessment for management to ensure all hazards are identified and appropriate risk control measures planned for implementation
- Facilitate HS&E incident & accident reporting and investigation system
- Provide data on health and safety performance, analyse data and provide comments/recommendations to ensure continual improvement in Health and Safety performance issuing a monthly report to the Group SHEQ Manager
- Ensure that appropriate records are maintained in compliance with legal requirements eg COSHH (Sevron)
- Provide staff with comprehensive and relevant information and training on health and safety systems and procedures, including advising on equipment purchase and workplace practices
- Organise and deliver relevant HS&E Training programmes for groups across site and for clients for example, face Fit, manual handling etc.…
- Assist Group SHEQ Manager with projects within Quality e.g. ISO 14001/45001 implementation
Qualifications, Experience & Personal Attributes
- Knowledge and experience of working within an electrical biased environment, in particular HV/LV/Utility/workshop/marine processes hazards and risk controls.
- Exposure to railways is desirable
- NEBOSH general certificate is essential
- Streetworks (NRSWA) experienced
- Relevant Health and Safety Advisory experience
- Ability to engage and communicate with all levels of employees, build rapport and good relationships and rapport with clients and possessing strong influencing and negotiating skills
- A pragmatic approach to the management of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Assurance
- Experience working with and continually improving recognised management systems such as ISO 45001, 14001 and 9001
Due to the nature of the role and the area you will cover, the successful person must have a full UK driving licence and the flexibility for business travel and overnight stays on a regular basis.
